A student-developed clothing line and subsequent short film aims to demonstrate the influence of Middlebury’s local identity.
Humans of Middlebury

Inspired by the unique flare of Middlebury fashion trends, student Jordan Saint-Louis ’24 delved into an independent project during the Winter Term of 2022 to create a streetwear capsule with many recognizable aspects of a Middlebury student’s “look”. The importance of community involvement and local considerations were present in all parts of the project, from the locally printed designs to a short series of interviews with community members. These conversations aimed to bridge the campus and its surroundings by focusing on the importance of place from the lens of local business owners, professionals, and students alike.
[The project] fuses culture, art, and community into one. [I was] able to not only create a product representing Middlebury, but also bring in different people in the community to feature and hopefully speak about the community as a whole therefore representing the different parts of Middlebury culture and what makes us unique.
